40 Layers

The interior design in China is always tricky in its’ ambivalent needs and poorly designed unit layout. It is frequently with either a too large lobby or an unreasonable size of windows.

The project creates three layers of environments by inserting two linear wooden systems. Transition plays a vital role in the spatial experience. The atmosphere changes along with the transition of wood types and the zones of layers.

Meanwhile, a hidden loop is created to link all private functions, which provide a more secret living scenario to be explored by the owner.
